Who are we? Bride&Wolfe founder Miranda Moreira lived in Paris for six years, getting as much buzz from the Metro signs and fire hydrants as from the bridges and the Pompidou. One day, she found herself in a shop in the 4th arrondissement, transfixed by a tiny timber Hansel and Gretel silhouette behind the counter. Despite Miranda's pleas, the shopgirl insisted the intricate cut-out had been in the family for decades and was definitely not for sale. But the ominous, beautiful fairytale imagery stayed with her and, when she moved home to Melbourne, she started crafting her own timber cut-outs, inspired by her home town's keen, fresh spirit as much as the easy ooze of Parisian chic. Bride&Wolfe was born in 2005. Bride&Wolfe pieces are inspired by Chinese papercutting, fossicked embroidery and fabrics, European folklore, and vintage Disney films. These influences are the touchstones for modern, resonant designs that evoke fairytales, forests and the magic of childhood. The intricate creations are produced in Melbourne in small runs and hand-finished in Miranda's garden studio. What do I do with it? The silhouettes can be hung from walls, doorways, ceilings or window frames. People have purchased Bride&Wolfe pieces for weddings, housewarmings and baby welcome presents. Of course, many people buy them to enjoy in their own home. To hang your Bride&Wolfe piece you can use the tried and true method of a little hook or nail, like hanging a painting, or you can use one of any number of non-permanent sticky hooks widely available in hardware stores and craft shops. We use 3M's 'command adhesive hooks' at home. They're perfect for Bride&Wolfe pieces and can be easily removed leaving no marks on your surfaces. For windows, we use small, clear suction cups with hooks, available in newsagents and office supplies stores. Bride&Wolfe's range is always evolving but if there's nothing on the current roster that seems just right, please get in touch to discuss different colours and materials. For example, we sometimes fashion limited editions in coloured or mirrored perspex. If you'd like to hear from us when a new design becomes available, just add your name to our mailing list. A little more... Everything Bride&Wolfe makes is designed and made in Melb ourne, Australia. The only sweat in our shop happens when we forget to take off our jumpers. By producing locally we get to cast a loving eye over every single item, which includes hand finishing each piece. This may mean slight variations in paint or varnish texture.
